Embroidered Dish Towel

Will use this as my post before this photo is too 'separated' from the other dishtowel posting. You will remember the story of my Mom getting cataracts and wearing tinted glasses - thus she could not see the thread colors. This set of the "Days of The Week" included those small errors she never would have made in her younger days. They are not imperfections to me - they are part of the story of her life.

Oh how she loved the 'Days of The Week'. For a long time, a pattern had to have those words or they just were not right for dish towels. How about you? What is your favorite dish towel pattern?

Don't worry too much about the no-reply thing. I did a blog post about how to fix it. Here is a link: http://thequilter.blogspot.com/2008/03/i-am-begging-you.html

I love the variegation she achieved without even trying. Such a treasure you have.

Your Mom did such beautiful work. I still have a lot of the dish towels that my Grandmother embroidered. And she too, put the day of the week on most of them!

I've never embroidered any dish towels. I was given some as a gift once, though, with a Holly Hobby type pattern. Loved them.

This brings back memories of embroidering dishtowels when I was a little girl of 7 or 8, and yes, we did the days of the week too, and used the fabric from the flour sacks. I was the youngest of 3 girls, and I'm sure mine were not very neat, but I did learn a skill that I still use occasionally.

I remember the towels with the days too. Probably were my Granny's towels.
