Tatting on Top

What an elegant way to give a tatted gift! This box is covered inside and out with fabric. Both sides of the lid and the inside bottom are padded and soft to touch. Before the days of glue guns or patterns, the box was completely designed and sewn by my mother.

Two pieces of her tatting were attached to the lid with her tiny, invisible stitches. I do not think she made many of these as this is the only I have seen. The owner of this treasure will think twice about who will become the next proud owner - a craft which is already an heirloom.

That is so beautiful. Your mother was very talented! And what a treasure for the person who has it.

What a beautiful keepsake! Back in college, the sorority girls used to cover little books and decorate them. I know glue guns weren't around yet, so they must have used similar techniques. Ah, the good old days!

Thanks for sharing!
